How to turn on Facebook monetization: the switch that does not exist, and the ones that do

Updated 18.10.2026 · Kostas Obuchow

There is no switch for Content Monetization: Meta invites pages and you cannot apply. What the Monetization tab actually turns on, where to find it, how to turn things off, and what to do while you wait.

Short answer

There is no switch for Content Monetization. You cannot enable it, apply for it, or unlock it by hitting a threshold. Meta invites pages itself, and the only thing available to you from your side is an interest form that states in its own text that it is not an application.

Every guide promising a sequence of taps to “turn it on” is describing something else — usually professional mode, Stars or subscriptions, which are different products with different rules.

What you actually control is a short list:

  • professional mode on a profile, or a Page set up properly — on;
  • the interest form inside the professional dashboard — submitted;
  • payout details and tax information — filled in before the invitation, not after;
  • the content and the audience — the only inputs that affect whether an invitation arrives at all.

The rest is Meta’s decision and Meta’s timing.

Where the monetization settings live

The path differs between a Page and a profile, and this is where most of the confusion starts.

What you haveWhere to look
A PageProfessional dashboard → Monetization
A profileProfessional mode on → Professional dashboard → Monetization
Several PagesMeta Business Suite → the Page → Monetization

Two things to know before you go looking:

  • the interest form for Content Monetization opens only in the mobile app. On a desktop browser the form does not render, and people conclude the feature is missing from their account;
  • the Monetization section can be absent entirely. That is not a bug and not a settings problem — it means the account is not in scope right now.

What you can switch on, and what you cannot

Can be switched onCannot be switched on
Professional modeContent Monetization — invitation only
Stars, where availableReels payouts as a separate product — it is part of Content Monetization
Subscriptions, where availableAny of it by reaching a follower count
Branded content toolsAny of it faster by posting more

The distinction matters because the products pay differently. Stars and subscriptions are money from your audience. Content Monetization is money from advertising against your content, and it is the one with real volume behind it: across our own network the rate ran from $0.08 to $0.33 per thousand qualified views, averaging $0.185.

Qualified views per monthAt the network lowAt the averageAt the network high
1 000 000≈ $80≈ $185≈ $220
10 000 000≈ $800≈ $1 850≈ $2 200
90 000 000≈ $7 200≈ $16 650≈ $19 800

The network runs about 250 pages in 25 languages. Across the monetized pages the average is $0.024 per thousand views, and $0.08 to $0.33 per thousand qualified views — the ones Meta counts, averaging $0.185. The best single page-month was $21,216 and the best day $4,163. These are measurements, not a promise: the rate follows language, market and format. Full breakdown in RPM by country.

How to turn monetization off

This is asked almost as often as how to turn it on, and nobody answers it.

  • On a Page: Professional dashboard → Monetization → the specific tool → turn off. The Page keeps its other settings;
  • On a video: open the post, turn off monetization for that piece of content only;
  • On a profile: switching professional mode off removes the dashboard and the monetization tools with it.

Two consequences worth knowing before you do it. Earnings already accrued do not disappear — they are paid on the normal cycle once the threshold is met. But turning a tool off and on repeatedly is not neutral: the account looks unstable, and stability is one of the things the system reads.

Stuck on review: how long

There is no published timeframe. What is observable: invitations arrive in waves rather than individually, and the waves are not sorted by page size. In August 2026 approvals were recorded on pages with 400 followers, while pages with 447,000 followers and 6 million monthly views were refused in the same month.

How the invitation waves work, what the dashboards show different pages and how long people wait — in the breakdown of how to get Facebook monetization. While the status says review, the useful actions are narrow: keep publishing on schedule, keep the page clear of violations, and make sure the payout account is complete. Nothing else moves the queue.

Country and age

Two hard requirements that no setting overrides:

  • you must live in a country the programme covers — about seventy of them — and your financial accounts must sit there too. Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nigeria come up constantly in these searches; the list changes, so check the current one rather than a blog post;
  • you must be 18 or older.

If the country is the blocker, no amount of content fixes it. That is the point where the second route below becomes the only route.

Earning without monetization

“How to make money on Facebook without monetization” is its own search for a reason: for a large share of creators the programme is simply unavailable.

Three things work regardless of programme status:

  • brand deals — not tied to any monetization list;
  • traffic to your own site, where the advertising is yours;
  • publishing on a page that already has monetization, under a revenue share. The page is not yours, the rights stay yours, and the country requirement applies to the page owner rather than to you. On our side that is 70% to you and 30% to the network, calculated on the payout after tax — send us a link to your channel and we will say which market fits.

How we help

You have read what can and cannot be switched on. The part that is not a setting is the invitation itself — and a page that already holds it, in a market where a thousand views is worth several times more, is not something one creator opens and fills.
  1. Your videos and photos go out on the network's pages and we split the revenue. The invitation, the eligible country and the payout account stop being your problem — the pages and the payouts are on us. We pick the language and the market that fit your content, and we check every file for originality risk before it is published. The rights to your material stay with you.
  2. You monetize on your own page and we set it up. If you would rather own the asset and keep all of the revenue, we prepare the page, help with the payout details and hand over a plan of what to publish and when.

Write to us with a link to your channel or page: we will say which languages your material makes sense in and roughly what it would return.

Questions from the community

I found the interest form, filled it in, and nothing happened for four months. Did I do it wrong?

September 2026
No. The form puts you on a list and its own text says it does not guarantee an invitation. Four months is inside the normal range — the community reports everything from one month to two years, and the queue is not ordered by how good your page is. The only thing worth checking is that the page has no open violations, because that is the one condition that definitely removes you from consideration.

The Monetization section is missing from my dashboard entirely. Is my account broken?

August 2026
It is not broken. The section appears for accounts that are in scope — the right country, the right age, a page in good standing. If it is absent, one of those is not met, and the most common one is the country: the programme covers about seventy, and the financial accounts have to be there too, not just you.
