How to crosspost Instagram reels to Facebook, step by step — and when they earn

Updated 24.09.2026 · Kostas Obuchow

Reels crossposted from your own Instagram can earn in Facebook Content Monetization — Meta names it as an exemption. How to link the accounts, share one reel or all of them automatically, what you need to post to a Facebook Page, and the conditions under which the crossposted reels actually earn.

Short answer

  1. Put your Instagram and Facebook accounts in one Accounts Center.
  2. To post to a Facebook Page, you need a professional Instagram account and full control of the Page, with the two connected.
  3. Share one reel with “Also share on…” before publishing, or turn on automatic sharing of all reels in the Crossposting settings.

Crossposted reels can earn in Facebook Content Monetization: Meta names content crossposted from Instagram as an exemption. But your Facebook page or profile must itself be in Content Monetization, which is by invitation.

What you need

  • the Instagram account and the Facebook account (or Page) in the same Accounts Center;
  • sharing works only from the Instagram app on Android or iPhone;
  • to post to a Page: a professional Instagram account, full control of the Page, and the account connected to the Page.

Since recently, you can no longer share from a personal Instagram account to a Page.

Share one reel

  1. Create the reel in Instagram and tap Next.
  2. Tap “Also share on…”.
  3. Switch on your Facebook Page or profile.
  4. Share.

The reel appears on Facebook as a Facebook reel.

Share all reels automatically

  1. In Instagram: your profile → MenuCrossposting.
  2. “Share to Facebook as” opens Accounts Center; choose the Page.
  3. Under “Automatically share”, switch on reels, and if you like, posts and stories.

You can still turn sharing off for a single reel when you publish it.

The default audience on Facebook follows your Instagram privacy: a public Instagram account means a public audience on Facebook.

When crossposted reels earn

Meta’s Content Monetization help lists content crossposted by another page you do not own or manage as not eligible, and adds:

This does not apply to content you’ve crossposted from Instagram.

So reels from your own Instagram can earn on Facebook, if:

  • your Facebook page or professional profile is in Content Monetization (by invitation; see how to get monetization);
  • you live in an eligible country, and your financial accounts are there too. Facebook covers 70 countries, Instagram’s gifts and subscriptions 49; see Instagram monetization by country;
  • the reels are original and at least 10 seconds long.

A bonus: reels shared via “Share to Facebook” are covered by Meta’s content protection, which finds copies of your reels on both platforms.

Common mistakes

  • Sharing from a personal Instagram account to a Page: no longer possible; switch to a professional account.
  • Crossposting onward from one Facebook page to another to earn twice: Meta says crossposting should not be used to monetize another page’s followers. See crossposting between pages.
  • Reels made from other people’s clips: crossposting does not make them original; they risk a flag on both platforms.
  • Reels under 10 seconds: they do not qualify for Content Monetization.

WHICH CASE IS YOURS

  1. The “Also share on” option does not show your Page — check that the Instagram account is professional and connected to the Page, and that you have full control.
  2. Crossposted reels earn nothing — your Facebook page or profile is not in Content Monetization yet.
  3. You want every reel on Facebook — turn on automatic sharing in the Crossposting settings.
  4. You live outside Facebook’s 70 countries — crossposted reels cannot earn on your own page; a partner page is the alternative.
  5. You crosspost further between Facebook pages — that is a different mechanism, and Meta says it is not for earning.
